Launched a couple of minutes before the begin of the task. The ceiling was low, a few hundred feet above launch.
The positives: I think I flew for longer than most, trying to hang around launch until I was at the height comfortable to jump across to “the tit” I left a very weak thermal with a couple of others to head back towards the front of launch fairly low. I’d been finding weak ridge lift, which I was able to take back to launch.
I wasn’t flying with many others around launch, but heading back here to get some additional height was the right move.
The negatives: I left the start cylinder two minutes too early I thought I was supposed to head to “the tit”, but it turns out I was just aiming at leaving the start cylinder. I ended up holding up over “Tollhouse rock” with two other pilots just ridge soaring, but I could have got there sooner if I wasn’t heading for the tit anyway.
I stayed for a couple of minutes ridge soaring, before figuring I’d never advance any further then went to find some lift on the way to the landing zone. Found lots of boaty air, but no lift :P
Changes:
- I now have the “next waypoint name” in FlySkyHy.
Fun flight.
