First proper glass off. This would have to be in the top 10 flights for me.
Didn’t launch till very late. I was planning on heading down in a car due to the very strong gusting wind (above 20mph), then as the evening wore on, had a wonderful afternoon flight. We watched Rai have a good launch, then Jess convinced me that conditions look on the stronger side, but manageable.
Launch was OK. Got off the hill fine, but took so long getting my foot into the pod that I was too far away from the ridge to safely head for ridge soaring. I decided to have a sledder instead for the afternoon.
The afternoon sledder turned into an amazing flight, because the best thermal was over Triceratops (no surprise there). This climb worked better than those back on the ridge.
Spent a while thermaling up with some random, found a much better climb following Honda’s advice (5 star system). Amazing!
I was I think 5,500 over ground after recording the sun setting, so, needed to do some easy spirals to get down.

Take aways:
The Maestro is a sick wing.
Need to practice getting in the pod much more.
Perhaps I should look at a lanyard or a way of taking off sunglasses in flight.
